Summary

Most people who played the original Unravel remember it for the undeniable charm of its protagonist, Yarny, and the pervasive warmth of the design. While both are certainly present in this sequel, there's also a greater level of depth and sophistication, thanks in no small part to the addition of a second playable character.

Once again Yarny can use the yarn he's made of to do various things including lassoing the environment, swinging around and tying bits of himself down to make bridges. With a second character in the mix, however, the possibilities multiply. It allows for more tense encounters with monsters (and almost anything's a monster when you're as small as Yarny), more challenging puzzles and more hair-raising platforming. You can play solo, with the game's AI controlling the second character, or with a friend. Either works, although everything's better together.

There's also a series of challenges you can play through outside the main narrative. They tend to be tougher than the main game, and range in style from tough-as-nails Super Meat Boy style platforming to puzzles that will stretch your grey matter to its limits. Completing them will earn you the chance to customise Yarny and make the game your own.
